  1. On a freshly updated to latest version copy of CentOS 6, run Preupgrade Assistant that will scan your system and determine what your upgrade status is.

$ sudo preupg

2. Import the CentOS 7 key:

$ sudo rpm –import http://isoredirect.centos.org/centos/7/os/x86_64/RPM-GPG-KEY-CentOS-7

3.  Run the actual tool:

$ sudo /usr/bin/redhat-upgrade-tool-cli –network 7 –instrepo=http://mirror.centos.org/centos/7/os/x86_64
